Sparkle Days of Winter

Winter Morning

The long dark nights of winter and days of slippery ice is a harsh reality in my world. On the surface, I dread winter, but then, I take some time and view it from a different angle. The stars, moon, and planets are visible without having to wait until the wee hours of the night. The snow hides the dreary browns and greys, and when the sun slips out from behind the clouds, the entire neighborhood is a mass of sparkles. Baby bits of sunlight reflects back to remind me that the ice isn’t merely a wicked way to break bones and tear ligaments. I do love the crisp fresh air of a winter walk. This is what I call “cleat season.” I love to get out and enjoy a clear winter day. And with cleats… it is all possible.

How we view our world is like our perspective on a clear winter morning. How do we view ourselves? Is winter just another opportunity to break a leg, or is it an opportunity to see something magical within the ordinary?
